And how can I get my large company to become more sustainable, inclusive, socially responsible?

A few days ago, you might have seen my article on the challenges, opportunities and how-to for small companies wanting to operate in systemic-thinking, sustainable ways. You may or not have heard about some of the big companies making sustainability and social responsibility a key part of their brand and way of doing things. And, you may or not believe what many of them say. I want to share a few good examples — because they inspire through their focus on the vision, willingness to navigate complexity on the way to it; and because they can offer a path to follow to inspired profitabililty.

Big companies tend to have more resources, but it can also be challenging to launch a behavior or process change initiative. There are established processes and communication channels (designed to enable scaling, standardized quality of products/service, and letting everyone who needs to know, know… in theory), power dynamics, more competition for attention, and bureaucracy.

In addition to those “structural” challenges, large companies benefit from and can be blinded by their success….
