And what can I, as an individual do? Practice and encourage increased energy efficiency, practice the 4Rs, believe in the power of small groups, and look for the quality certifications

You might justifiably say, 100 companies emit 71% of the greenhouse gases, what can we as individuals possibly do to move the dial? This article is for the individuals who buy from companies, who staff and run companies, those who want to improve their employers’ practices, and those who influence the people around them; in other words, it’s for all of us. It is for those who support companies that exemplify their values, by addressing community and global issues, reversing damage, and promoting the long-term health of their workers, community, suppliers, customers, and the environment. There are always options, so all else equal, don’t you want to make your company better, or to buy from the one you feel better about? The one that pollutes less, takes better care of it’s employees and community, and ensures its supply chain respects not only efficiency, but also human rights and environmentally sound practices. I’ll define the context and then share just a few of the ways individuals can be informed and can take action.
